Integration of Vintron into Vinnolit. Technology Centre VinTec becomes Profit Centre

Simultaneously, effective from August 1, 2003, Vinnolit Technologie GmbH & Co. KG (VinTec) will be absorbed into Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KG and will operate as a profit centre retaining the name VinTec.

"The integration of Vintron is the consequent realisation of the strategy adopted when Vinnolit and Vintron were acquired by Advent International in 2000", said Managing Director Dr Josef Ertl. "The positioning with our two PVC twinsites - Burghausen/Gendorf and Cologne/Knapsack – both upstream-integrated with world scale monomer plants each having a capacity of some 300,000 metric tonnes per year, ensures our competitiveness."

Since 1998 Vinnolit and Vintron have invested about 260 million Euros into the integration of the raw materials chlorine and VCM, and have implemented their own newly developed suspension PVC technology. The successfully completed expansion at Vintron is now followed by a new organisational structure. Dr Michael Winhold, formerly Managing Director of Vintron, will head the "new" enlarged business unit Monomers, with sites at Gendorf and Knapsack. Dr Hermann Berwe, formerly Managing Director of Vintron, will support Advent International as Adviser for the Chemical Sector. Heading the profit centre VinTec – responsible for technology development as well as licensing and marketing of technology and know-how – is, as before, Dr Ingolf Mielke. The business units Paste & Extender, as before headed by Dr Wolfram Prößdorf, and Thermoplastics, as before headed by Hans-Joachim Fox, still have the responsibility for the operational business of the polymer sector.

"The integration of Vintron will enable us – in these economically difficult times – to structure the company more efficiently, leaner and with greater transparency. In this way we are also further strengthening our longstanding position in the market as a competent partner of our customers", said Vinnolit Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Zippel.
