K 2013: 100 years of PVC patent, 25 years of AGPU

100 years of PVC: This anniversary was remembered by the Working group PVC and environment e.V. (AGPU) during a press conference at the K, the international trade fair for plastics and rubber from 16 to 23 October in Dusseldorf.

"The year 2013 is very special, also because the AGPU with its member companies in the PVC industry committed to the material PVC for 25 years: with new ideas and a professional communication that is changing continuously," says Dr. Axel Bruder, CEO of AGPU and Member of the Board of RENOLIT SE in Worms. This also includes an intensive dialogue with decision-makers from politics, economy, trade and NGOs.

With the presentation of a design for a versatile mini house made of recycled PVC, the AGPU celebrated a small premiere at the plastics trade fair K. The concept was developed by four young architects and two product designers from Berlin. The aim was to develop the archetype of a house in a new material-specific design language. The opportunities of recycled PVC material and the aesthetics of the material should clearly be worked out. "The properties of recycled PVC predestines the material for the realization of such a project," explains Werner Preusker, Managing Director of AGPU.

PVC not only is very lightweight, weather-resistant and waterproof, it is also very easy to maintain and extremely flexible. The multifunctional mini house can be used in various locations - such as a residence or storage space in the garden, as workplace or as a pavilion with plenty of storage space for materials.
